Job Title: Shop Assistant / Cashier (P27) – Retail Operations

Department: Operations – Stores

Role Type: Temporary / P27 Contract

About the Role

We’re looking for an energetic and customer-focused Shop Assistant/Cashier (P27) to deliver an outstanding in-store shopping experience. This role is key to ensuring efficient stock replenishment, effective merchandising, store cleanliness, and accurate transaction processing at till points.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Service

  • Deliver excellent customer service for a positive shopping experience.
  • Assist customers in finding products and resolving queries or complaints promptly.

2. Cashier Duties

  • Accurately process cash and card payments, Lay-Bys, and refunds.
  • Report discrepancies or issues to the supervisor.
  • Ensure till balancing at the end of shifts.

3. Merchandising & Stock Control

  • Maintain correct pricing and attractive product displays.
  • Ensure sufficient stock availability on the sales floor.
  • Keep the store clean, organized, and aligned with promotional activities.

4. Risk & Security

  • Ensure all products are correctly tagged according to company policy.
  • Participate in stock counts and monitor for theft or fraudulent activity.
  • Report suspicious behavior to management immediately.

5. Values & Conduct

  • Uphold Ackermans’ values, policies, and procedures in all daily activities.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (fluency in English required; additional languages an advantage).
  • High energy, tenacity, and strong motivation to meet targets.
  • Prior retail experience advantageous but not essential.
