Job Overview
The Driver/Messenger will be responsible for safely transporting people, documents, and goods, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, road regulations, and schedules. The role involves efficient handling and delivery of documents, reporting vehicle and equipment defects, and maintaining records in line with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities
Messenger Services
- Collect and deliver correspondence, ensuring timely and secure handling.
- Reconcile packages and maintain a daily logbook.
- Confirm and report completed deliveries to the office.
- Sort and plan delivery routes for efficiency.
Administration
- Monitor and ensure timely processing of copying, binding, and messenger services.
- Archive and maintain records per the National Archives Act and RAF guidelines.
- Maintain an inventory of departmental records and oversee their offsite storage or destruction.
- Operate and monitor the postal service facilities effectively.
Transportation and Operations
- Safely transport goods, materials, and staff.
- Load and unload merchandise, recognizing and reporting vehicle issues promptly.
Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Ensure all vehicles and equipment are in proper working condition.
Mail Processing
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, ensuring proper registration, sorting, and filing.
- Record and track registered mail and payments received.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Matric/Grade 12 certificate.
- Valid Code 10 (EC1/EC) driver’s license.
- Professional Driver’s Permit.
Experience
- Minimum of 1-year experience in a driving or messenger services role.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of vehicle roadworthiness and safety.
- Ability to adhere to ethical practices and provide excellent client service.
- Emotional intelligence and sound decision-making abilities.
