Job Purpose

To cut grass using specialised ride-on equipment on developed and undeveloped open spaces and facilities, while performing general horticultural maintenance to enhance environmental quality.

Application Requirements

• Basic literacy
• Relevant experience operating ride-on mowers or similar machinery
• Physical fitness and good health, with the ability to handle equipment
• Willing to undergo a criminal record check (fingerprints taken by TMPD at own cost)
• Willingness and ability to work shifts

Primary Functions

• Cut grass at decorative play parks, open spaces, road reserves and spruit areas
• Cut grass on traffic islands, malls, squares, boulevards, sport fields, cemeteries, crematoria and resorts
• Cut grass at City of Tshwane facilities such as crèches, old-age homes, hostels, fire stations, etc.
• Operate ride-on lawnmowers, brush cutters and other assigned equipment
• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993) requirements
• Perform general horticultural maintenance as needed
