Job Description

RCL FOODS is seeking two (2) Fitter & Turner Apprentices to join our Baking Division in Krugersdorp. Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, the successful candidates will play a crucial role in ensuring effective plant maintenance to minimize downtime.

Training & Development

• Institutionalized Training at the Industrial Training Centre (ITC) (approx. 20 weeks).
• Practical Exposure in various factory sections during operations and off-crop periods (approx. 29 weeks).
• Annual Phase Tests (Mini Trade Tests) to assess progress.
• Final Trade Test leading to a nationally recognized qualification.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• N3 (minimum) – N4 to N6 preferred

• Required N3 Subjects:
  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • Industrial Electronics
  • Electrical Trade Theory / Electrical Technology / Electrotechnology
  • Fitting & Machining / Mechanical Technology / Mechanotechnology

• Proof of completed formal Institutionalized Training Programme
• Knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment

Additional Requirements

• Valid EB / Code 8 Driver’s License
• Computer Literacy (MS Office)
• Willingness to work shifts, standby duties, callouts, and overtime
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct equipment inspections to prevent breakdowns and quality issues
• Follow maintenance execution processes, ensuring accurate work orders
• Inspect drives, motors, belts, bearings, and replace filters as needed

• Perform repairs to restore equipment functionality
• Lubricate and maintain machinery components
