Key Purpose

This role aims to train the incumbent as a qualified tradesman and provide knowledge and experience as an artisan in the chosen trade.

Key Outputs and Responsibilities

• Complete the 3-4 year apprentice program as per company/SETA requirements
• Maintain a safe and healthy working environment
• Comply with all safety, health, and environmental procedures and legislation

• Ensure a clean working environment
• Gain knowledge and experience through training
• Locate plant, equipment, spares, and relevant documentation/systems
• Plan, budget, and prepare for jobs

• Evaluate and repair breakdowns and maintenance issues
• Continuously optimize plant, process equipment, and systems
• Develop machine-specific technical competence

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science
• Minimum National Technical Certificate (N4) to complete a program in various trades: Fitter & Turner
• Higher qualification in the relevant engineering discipline (N5/N6 would be advantageous)
• Engineering aptitude
