Apprenticeship

Location: Cape Town

Novus Print: Applications are being accepted for Montague Gardens’ 2025 apprenticeship program, which will start in January 2025. There are apprenticeships offered in the following trades: sheetfed press, lithography press, electronic pre-press, mechanized bookbinding, and gravure press. 36 months of aided theoretical and practical training make up the program. This is to get ready for the corresponding trade exams.

Obligations and Liabilities

● For the length of the training, the employer and the FP&M SETA will enter into contracts with the selected candidates. ● Phase 1: Finish the academy’s four to five months of theoretical instruction. Phase 2–4: Finish the training’s primary experiential component at Novus Print, which will take roughly 26–30 months.

●  The academy and Printing SA provide essential theoretical training during the three-year apprenticeship. ● After successfully completing the apprenticeship program, there is no contractual requirement to be placed permanently in the relevant trade.

Requirements
● Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
● Mathematical Literacy with a pass rate of 50% (Please attach matric certificate or latest results)
● The completion of a set of technical test batteries with appropriate outcome scoring, is a pre-requisite for acceptance into the apprentice program 

                               
Experience Requirements
● A technical foundation would be advantageous
Skills and Competencies
● Proficiency in English (all course material is in English).
● Willingness to work shifts.
Exceptional colour perception.
A technical interest or demonstrated technical aptitude would be an advantage.
