The Department of Health and Wellness in the Western Cape invites applications for several Administration Clerk positions across hospitals and directorates. These roles provide crucial support in registry, supply chain, finance, HRD, and medical record management.


🗂️ 1. Administration Clerk: Registry

Centres:

  • Karl Bremer Hospital – Ref: Post 24/211
  • New Somerset Hospital – Ref: Post 24/213

Requirements:

  • Senior Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Medical records experience (New Somerset: required; Karl Bremer: advantageous)
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work shifts (New Somerset)
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of Clinicom system
  • Archiving and records management knowledge

Key Duties:

  • Manage patient folders, medical records, and document tracking
  • Filing, sorting, and archiving according to hospital procedures
  • Support administrative recordkeeping for internal/external requests

📦 2. Administration Clerk: Supply Chain Management (Procurement & Stores)

Requirements:

  • Senior Certificate with Mathematics or Accounting, or relevant experience
  • Valid driver’s license (Procurement post)
  • Computer literacy and experience in LOGIS, EPS, ESL systems
  • Supply chain management experience in public health context
  • Knowledge of PFMA and procurement frameworks

Key Duties:

  • Demand/acquisition of goods and services, site visits, and supplier sourcing
  • Ensure audit compliance and procurement reporting
  • Evaluation of quotes, placing orders, recordkeeping

👩‍🎓 3. Administration Clerk: Student Support & People Development

Centre: Head Office, Cape Town – Ref: Post 24/214

Requirements:

  • Senior Certificate
  • EPWP Reporting System and Incentive Grant implementation experience
  • Valid Code B/EB driver’s license
  • Knowledge of national grant frameworks and public works reporting

Key Duties:

  • Support implementation of Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP)
  • Collate and manage data for grant monitoring
  • Represent department in social sector engagements
  • Maintain and analyze People Development databases

Requirements:

  • Senior Certificate
  • Experience in hospital fees, billing systems (HIS, UPFS, Clinicom)
  • Strong communication and confidentiality skills
  • Willingness to work shifts and rotate departments

Key Duties:

  • Patient admissions and billing
  • Invoicing and debit entries
  • Handling queries and phone support
  • Cover clerical duties across finance and patient admin
